Signature Events

Fun and festive Northern Outer Banks annual events perfectly capture the camaraderie and carefree spirit of Corolla and The Mainland. In summer, locals and visitors from all over the world converge in Historic Corolla Park for gatherings on the great soundside lawn. In June, it’s the Under the Oaks Arts Festival, a juried show with more than 60 artists, while July brings the Independence Day Celebration, a patriotic party with music, food trucks, games, and the biggest fireworks show on the Outer Banks. During the summer is the Corolla Cork & Craft, with wine, beer, vendors, music, and food, as well as weekly Yoga in the Park for an early morning stretch. Lighting up The Northern Outer Banks holidays, Christmas in Corolla, Whalehead Candlelight Christmas Tour, and the Christmas Craft Village provide holiday entertainment. The Mainland’s signature annual event is the Currituck Bulls & BBQ, a rollicking good time with a rodeo and hugely popular KCBS BBQ competition, held in the fall.
