Raise a Glass: Wine, Beer & Coastal Spirits in the Northern Outer Banks

Whether your drink of choice is a bold Cabernet, a crisp craft beer, or a handcrafted cocktail, Corolla offers plenty of ways to toast your vacation. After a day spent on the beach, climbing the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, or exploring Historic Corolla Park, settle in with a favorite beverage and discover the Northern Outer Banks’ laid-back beverage scene.

Sip Your Way Through Corolla

For wine lovers, Wild Goose Wine Bar offers one of the most unique tasting experiences on the Outer Banks. Self-serve wine stations allow guests to sample dozens of wines by the ounce before selecting a favorite glass or bottle. The knowledgeable staff can help guide your tasting, while charcuterie boards and light bites make it easy to turn an afternoon tasting into a relaxing evening. If someone in your group prefers beer, Wild Goose also serves rotating craft beers and other beverages, making it a great gathering place for everyone.

Discover Local Wines

Just a short drive from Corolla, Sanctuary Vineyards has become one of northeastern North Carolina’s premier wineries. Visitors can enjoy tastings of award-winning wines grown in the coastal climate, stroll the vineyard, or attend seasonal events throughout the year. If you’d rather stay in Corolla, stop by The Cotton Gin, where you can sample Sanctuary Vineyards wines while shopping for coastal gifts and gourmet treats.

Corolla Cork & Craft

Add even more fun to your Northern Outer Banks vacation with great local events. Corolla Cork & Craft is a wonderful outdoor craft, beverage event which features local wines, beer and spirits in a beautiful waterfront setting along the Currituck Sound.  This event also features local crafters, food vendors and live music to entertain and delight our guests.  Browse the many craft vendors to find the perfect, unique, one-of-a-kind gift and end the day by watching the glorious sunset over the Currituck Sound.  Bring the whole family to enjoy a laid back afternoon in Historic Corolla Park. Pets on a leash are welcome. And the parking is free!

Craft Beer with an Outer Banks Twist

Corolla’s craft beer scene continues to grow. Whalehead Brewery serves its own handcrafted beers alongside wood-fired pizzas, shareable appetizers, wine, and cocktails in a welcoming taproom. Their self-pour tap wall makes it easy to sample several different styles before choosing your favorite.  For another interactive experience, Off the Wall Tap House features a self-serve beer wall with more than 20 rotating craft beers, plus a full menu of cocktails, wine, and beach-inspired cuisine. It’s a fun stop for families, groups, or anyone who enjoys trying a variety of brews at their own pace.  Beer enthusiasts may also want to visit Northern Outer Banks Brewing Company, where locally brewed beers capture the flavors and spirit of the Outer Banks.  If you’re looking for a relaxed outdoor atmosphere, The Corolla Beer Garden combines local and regional craft beers, wine, cider, live music, and a casual backyard vibe that’s perfect after a day on the beach.

Sample Coastal Spirits

If handcrafted spirits are more your style, consider taking a scenic drive to Buffalo City Distillery in nearby Point Harbor. Inspired by the colorful history of the once-thriving logging town of Buffalo City, the distillery produces small-batch bourbon, whiskey, rum, vodka, and other spirits with tasting experiences available for visitors.

Cheers to the Northern Outer Banks

Whether you’re discovering a new vintage, sampling locally brewed craft beer, or savoring a handcrafted spirit, the Northern Outer Banks invites you to slow down and enjoy every sip. Pair your favorite beverage with fresh local seafood, a spectacular Currituck Sound sunset, or an evening on the deck of your vacation rental, and you’ll discover that the best happy hour is simply being here.
