Perch Street

Perch Street Beach Access provides public pedestrian access to the Atlantic Ocean in Corolla’s Whalehead community. Visitors reach the beach by following a wooden walkway across the dunes. A few street parking spaces are available west of Lighthouse Drive, but parking is limited compared with Corolla’s larger public access facilities. There is no bathhouse, public restroom or shower facility listed at Perch Street.

The beach is typically staffed by a seasonal lifeguard, with lifeguard service from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., during peak summer season. The Northern Outer Banks beach overview also identifies Perch as an off-season vehicle drive-over location, generally October 1 through April 30. Drivers should follow posted signage and current Currituck County regulations.
