Celebrate 150 Years of Light with the Currituck Beach Lighthouse in Corolla

It’s not every day you get to celebrate a 150th Lighthouse Birthday! Mark your calendars and come celebrate!
On December 1, 1875 the Currituck Beach Lighthouse lit the East Coast’s last dark space! Still a public, active aid to navigation the Corolla, NC beacon has guided thousands of Atlantic-faring ships to safety. The lighthouse is an architectural delight, both inside and out, and the view from the top is (really!) breathtaking!
The Outer Banks Conservationists (OBC) invite you to come climb as our guest anytime from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025. Between 4pm and sunset we’ll gather rain or shine in the yard to celebrate the wonder of this fine brick and mortar tower, its keepers, and its history. And we will toast to another 150 years of light for our old flame!
OBC works closely with the Department of the Interior, the National Park Service, the State of North Carolina, and the United States Coast Guard to maintain the site and its historic accuracy and significance.
You may also commemorate the tower’s 150th year with a season pass for unlimited climbs, available for purchase for individuals and families; the passes also includes unlimited visits to Island Farm in Manteo. Please visit the website for more information and to purchase online: https://obcinc.org/season-passes/
Leashed pets are welcome on the Lighthouse grounds. Drones and their pilots less so. Children aged 0-3 years may enter the tower only if secured in a backpack or sling.
